THERE WILL BE CHANGES THIS YEAR
The Inflation Reduction Act rules that go into effect in 2025 will create changes in Medicare Advantage and Drug plans.
Both stand alone Prescription Drug Plans (PDP's) and PDP's embedded in Medicare Advantage Plans will change.
More insurance companies are adding deductibles than in the past. Some companies are choosing to use the maximum deductible of $590 in their plans. Companies are moving drugs to higher tiers and in some cases narrowing formularies and increasing premium costs. Other companies will be dropping their plans altogether. This is all in response to the required $2000 out of pocket maximum that every plan will have in 2025.
Now for the GOOD news. The Coverage Gap (ie: donut hole), will be a thing of the past!
$2000 a year is the most an individual could pay for drugs with thier Medicare PDP, most will pay less, before the plan takes over and pays 100% of the drug cost. Insulin will be $35 a month along with other negotiated prices to come on more costly prescriptions. There are other plan changes that we can talk about individually.
